Videodrome (1983)

Director: David Cronenberg / Starring: James Woods, Sonja Smits, Deborah Harry

Elin and I ended up watching David Cronenberg’s Videodrome (1983) tonight. A superb film about a porn peddelin’ dude and an S/M chick. 25+ years old it has a lot to say about our desire (or even need) to tv-comsume.

What is moral or immoral to watch? And who is to decide? You?

I must admit that David Cronenburg is one of the great filmmakers of our time. I remember seeing Re-Animator on Super 8 projection at the Arvika Festival a long time ago. Between this and that I guess maybe I have seen six, seven of his films but I really should dig deeper.

    If you haven’t seen Cronenberg’s last couple flicks, “A History of Violence” and “Eastern Promises”, do so now.

    FYI, I decide what is right to watch, and Anders, I don’t think it’s right that you watch so much gay porn, especially now that you’re married.

    I only watch the gay flicks you’re in..

    Have seen both “History” and “Promises” and though I find the first to be the better one, they both rock and roll.

    I love Videodrome. When River and I went to see Spider when it opened, we accidentally talked a lady in line with us out of seeing it by trying to make conversation about Cronenberg. Apparently Videodrome was too much for her and she didn’t realize it was by the same director.

    Man, people who don’t like Videodrome are weird!

    Oh yes! Videodrome is greeeat! You should see Scanners (also oldie. You might have seen it already if you like weird horror movies lol) and those 2 movies Greg mentioned (totally badass). I still gotta see spider! Can’t find it for rent anywhere! Grr!
