So the annual Frizon took place pretty close to Örebro. I went over to shoot some pics for upcoming interviews. The Blindside show was pretty stale (their last one ever? Who knows…).
I spent a couple of hours with Jani Stefanovic (The Weakening, Miseration, Essence of Sorrow etc) talking about his current and upcoming projects. I think I’ll try and do an article about him this fall. That show was really cool but the sound inside that tent sucked ass.
Also, the awemighty Crimson Moonlight played. A great show and their vocalist Pilgrim Bestiarius is the nicest bloke in the northern realms of the hemisphere. We decided I should come visit him in a couple of weeks and spend some time together in his un-wired cottage with no running water! Should be a blast. That is also an idea for an article that is allready sold.
Aaahhaha! Check this out. I found a clip of Rammstein covering a Ramones tune together with some of the Ramones guys and Jerry Only from The Misfits. Listen to the first minute. I would trade my grandmother to be able to sing like that!
I have been up to quite some mischief since last, I must say. Some costed more than others. Bare with me and I’ll bring you up to date.
First off. The most wonderful thing has happened. For the first time ever (and last, mind you!) I got engaged! That was ten days ago and Elin was the victim of course. We decided to do it on the very spot – close to the castle in Stockholm – where we met the first time about 15 months ago. After that we went to a fancy restaurant up in the air. So yes, now I am one happy bloke.
About three weeks back I went downtown (Stockholm) to catch up with Tim Lambesis of As I Lay Dying. Really nice guy. We sat down for a good hour talking about the band, the album, the tour and the faith.
After that I did a photo shoot with the band, went home for dinner and then took Elin with me to the show. Some other bands played (Himsa, Darkest Hour and Maroon) I think but I saw nothing of them.
The article I wrote about As I Lay Dying was published in the newspaper Dagen last week. It came out allright but as always you think you could’ve done better. About the band, well metalcore isn’t really my thing but lately the band has moved a bit closer to a thrash sound which makes them way more interesting for me. And well, their show was energetic enough.
So what was the whole car crash thing about you wonder? Well, I went to London (via Belgium) with the guys form Animasola for some UK shows to promote the band. It was a really fun eight day trip but during one show in London some dopeheads smashed a car window on the car I borrowed from Jens. Then they took all our clothes. That was in the middle of the night. Needless to say the experience sucked pretty bad. I’ll write more about that and our stay in a London anarchist house the next time. Maybe some of the guys have pictures (though I douit since the on digitial camera got stolen).
I’m on the train to Stockholm and Elin. Don’t know what we’re gonna do really. I’m so tired (and I have a horrible headache) so I’m not really up for anything. Watching movies I guess. I’ve brought some and I think there’s a load of them at Elin’s place that we have yet to see. But before that I’m gonna take a serious bath I think.
So what about the elections then (swedish readers only)? I think the Folkpartiet vs. Socialdemokraterna spy-thing is complete bullshit. I mean, c’mon! Sure, the 24-year-old who accessed the other parties non-public network should be held responsible but if someone has to draw attention from the serious national issues to this farse, then that person probably hasn’t got a whole lot to say anyways and had better shut up.
The fellers in the picture above I like a lot. Picture was taken at a rally in Falun a couple of weeks ago. They had a whole lot more to say about Iraqi elections than they had to say about Swedish. However, I’m afraid I forgot to register to vote in the Iraqi elections.
On a different not, it turned out we all liked the new Iron Maiden album “A Matter of Life and Death” so much that we didn’t want to miss them in Sweden, so me, Bomber and Elin decided to get tickets for one show i Stockholm in November. Have you heard the new album? I think “For the Greater Good of God” is cool and I also like “The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg”.
My stop is next. I’ve gotta pack my stuff and jump of this train.
It’s really boiling is it not? I’m upstairs in mom and dad’s house and I feel like giving in because it’s so hot. A couple of days ago we got back from the Sweden Rock Festival and it was a lot of fun as always. I’d seen almost all of the bands before, except for Venom (and who would wanna miss that, uhm).
These pictures are not from all of the shows coz I don’t have the rest on my computer. I also took some pictures of the Whitesnake show and some of Ted “shit for brains” Nugent.
Seeing Queensrÿche perform Operation: Mindcrime pt 1 and 2 together with Pamela Moore as Sister Mary was truly an important thing in life. The show was quite cool and quite theatrical though nothing they do will ever be much compared to Operation: Livecrime. As for Venom they really were just as bad as everyone had imagined. And quite ugly too if I may add. Now I’m looking forward to The Cult in Copenhagen on the 26th ofJune.
“So where do we begin? And what else can we say?
When the lines are all drawn… What should we do today?
(Fates Warning)
Can I just say that life is strange at the moment? That would make it a whole lot easier. What am I talking about? Well, I’ll tell you. There’s a lot of different things on my mind. For one thing, I’m a bit distracted or even freaked out because two different people are having similar dreams about me. And they don’t even know each other – and they’re not even from the same countries. So you dream about me? Big deal! I don’t really need that. My question is: Who on earth will dream with me?!
I think I’m gonna go on a road trip in a week or two. Up north. Also an Israel trip is scheduled for March 2006 but other than that I can’t really say what the future holds. At first I was thinking I’d stay put in Sweden until the end of the summer but I’m not sure I’m gonna have a place to stay. If I won’t find a place I might as well tour the world again come summer.
Mail suggestions and invitations if you have ‘em. I gotta go to bed now and I’ll check the mail box in the morning.
I look at my life, each day, and the decisions I’ve made and for a couple of seconds I’m worried (I live in a freakin’ hostal, without any planning) but then the feelings switch and I feel proud when I think back on what’s happened. So much came along with the decision to break up and seek adventure. And I know I am not alone.
“I remember the nights. And i remember pain. Like the sound
of your voice, alone. These memories and more remain.”
(Fates Warning)
Being that I’m stubborn and stupid and always knows best and stuff, I can’t think of too many people that I’ve never had any arguments with. I mean, serious arguments. At least not people that I care about. In reality I can probably only come up with one and that is Compadre – Martin Thomander.
I’m not sure we are very much alike but I have to think we are for that reason alone. We played with He-Man together and traded hockey cards together and went to Iron Maiden shows together. Me and Bomber and Albin (Lil’ Bomber) went down to see Veddige Vipers play yesterday. My brother said that he thought the team sucked but that Martin (aka K-man, Tompa etc) was spectacular. I can only agree.
A couple of games ago someone smashed his nose though and blood was pissing. To be honest, we expected something of the kind. The next time we want some blood. Anyways, he might just be my best friend and I can only take pride in that!
I got up at noon today because we came home at almost five in the morning. Being that Bomber is the biggest Dio fan south of heaven he dragged me down to Karlskrona to see them play. It was a great show indeed.
I must have seen Dio at least 15 times (if not 20) and they played tunes like “Tarot Woman” and “Caught in the Middle” for the first time in ages. The venue was a cool one as well with a balcony that stretched around the whole stage.
Ronnie was great as always. Can’t believe the length of his career and he is still going strong. Find a better voice and point me in the direction. I dare you. Impossible I think.
